An infinite space facing the Pacific Ocean that features a transparent water and glass balcony that appears to join and float on the sea. The attempt of connecting architecture and nature has been continued on ever since and is still a symbol of Kengo Kuma’s work.
FUFU Nara (2020, 30 rooms)
Nestled in a corner of Nara Park, the design is based on the Japanese traditional architecture concept of “harmonization of gardens and buildings”, which is reflected in the interior materials and colors selections, all pursuing a cultivated sense of peace with gardens and buildings becoming one. “The master of Wa”- Kengo Kuma’s artworks of harmony take you through a journey of craftsmanship from modern days to the ancient cities’ traditions.
